CAT Pop-Up shop

Last week, the MBF team had the opportunity to visit CAT footwear’s first ever pop up shop in the US.  CAT, a Timberland meets Doc Martens footwear company based out of Illinois, has come a long way from their original business plan of making earthmoving equipment, machinery and engines.

Their latest SS15 collection shown on the corner of Lexington and 47th displayed durable but stylish footwear that seems to be in key with trends seen all over the runways. CAT’s combat boots, sneakers and work boots for both men and women hit the androgynous trend perfectly.

Photo via MBF Trend Consulting

In the shop one could see the full-blown Fall/Winter14 collection while we got a sneak preview of SS15. CAT presented their collection in a series of 4 segments.  8 models stood on pedestals dressed in clothing from various vendors including Top Shop, Levi’s, and NastyGal for each of the 4 presentations.  The styling was a fantastic reflecting of where CAT fits in the market, talking very much to the millenniums. The models as a whole carried a very laid-back vibe, sporting relaxed clothing, sunglasses and even dancing to the music while joking with the crowd. Because of the relaxed presentation, we could walk up closely to see evey detail of the shows – which was great!

Fashion Week Part 1

We have been busy bees at MBF covering event after event during New York Fashion Week, from off-site venues to the tents at Lincoln Center. To name a few, we covered Nolcha Fashion Week, the Angola International Fashion Show, the Snowman Runway Presentation, and even went inside the tents to see Custo Barcelona hit the catwalk. We also attended off-site events such as Manufacturer New York’s Second Anniversary Bash, the Refinery29 Country Club, and Christian Siriano’s fragrance launch party.

At 17 and self-taught, the Houston based designer Amir Taghi made his debut at New York Fashion Week this season with a collection inspired by fierce women chasing after their dreams. He name dropped icons like Bianca Jagger, who was known for her signature low cut suits that were the perfect combination of sexy and elegant. Overall, his designs reflect his Persian background and emit an unapologetic sense of sophisticated luxury which is so consistent with the chic southern style he surrounds himself with.

photo via Carrie Hammer

Carrie Hammer creates customized business dresses for the modern woman and what better way to empower her collection than to have real life professionals strutting down the catwalk? Replacing runway models with role models, Carrie is making a major statement by equating beauty with success. Held at The Fashion Law Institute, this year's diverse lineup included the likes of top female executives from Shoppable, The Li.st, Amazon, Intuit, Fast Company, Apple, and both Geena Rocero a transgender model as well as Karen Crespo, a quadruple amputee who walked the runway for the first time with her new limbs.

We came across the swimwear line Feelo'je at the Angola International Fashion Show who's tropical palette and Caribbean vibes brought together a striking collection of bold bikinis inspired by the sunset. The designer Janay, who officially launched her label at age 17, came up with the name Feelo'je to pay homage to her hometown and merge it with her "feel" for fashion.

Another noteworthy designer at the Angola Fashion Show was Lucrecia Moreira who blends African, European and American cultures into one cohesive line. This collection in particular was inspired by the Mao collar but reinterpreted and applied to dresses of varying lengths and cuts.

NAMM also known as "New Age of Money Makers" is a cool menswear label that draws inspiration from modern art, architecture, and represents a team of ambitious 20-something Millennials. Shown at Manufacturer New York, designer Ron Wallace is working as the first incubator for the new initiative, which has really helped mature his aesthetic and grow as a designer. The collection is credited for it's fine tune details and is looking to expand to a bigger show and larger venue next year, possibly even in Paris.

Portuguese designer Katty Xiomara who is known for her graphic themes, strayed a bit from last season's geometrics and color blocking, and introduced a focus on the structure behind the geometrics. Shown at Nolcha Fashion Week, the clothing had a lighter, softer, more transparent take for summer and with the label's popularity quickly gaining momentum, she's definitely one to keep an eye on!

Also spotted at the independent fashion show Nolcha was the contemporary lifestyle brand, Charles & Ron. The self-taught couple created the collection by transforming photographs from their capital city of Malta into a captivating display of prints. Overall, the brand is deeply rooted in their Maltese culture and truly symbolizes the spirit of the Mediterranean.

photo via Refinery29

This season Refinery29 really made a splash at NYFW and introduced their interactive Country Club pop-up concept down on Mercer Street in SoHo. Here fashionistas were able to take a break from all the Fashion Week madness and enjoy snacks and refreshments as well as a nine-hole mini golf experience inspired by different designers like Suno and Marc Jacobs.

photo via Refinery29

Refinery29 also teamed up with Lord and Taylor to present The New Class of Designers showcase called Brand Assembly. Together, they produced a runway show featuring advanced contemporary designers which included the likes of Sachin + Babi, Priority Ten, and Calla. Right now these up and coming labels are available to shop at the Brand Assembly concept shop both online and at the Fifth Avenue flagship.

And lastly one of our favorite Fashion Week events was the Cara x Mulberry Scavenger Hunt. With the help of Refinery29, about 30 girls were stationed throughout the city on bikes giving away custom totes filled with keys. Out of all these giveaways, only three lucky keys, each at one Mulberry location across New York, were actually able to unlock the padlocks holding a handbag from Cara's new Mulberry collection. One of our team members was able to track down the Refinery29 girls and get a key, but unfortunately it did not unlock the case holding the handbag turned backpack. However, it was definitely some good old fashionable fun!

Please check our Facebook and Instagram for great street style pics from all these events during New York Fashion Week.

This is part one, stay tuned to part 2 to be posted soon!

The Fashion Curve

The plus size clothing sector is seeing some serious growth as of late. While traditional plus size specialty stores like Evans and Lane Bryant have been around for almost a century, most of the current boom can be credited to cutting edge retailers like Modcloth, ASOS, and Forever 21 who have expanded their offerings to include a more diverse size range. This market shift suggests that no matter what a customer's shape or size is, they still demand clothing that is on trend and makes them look and feel good.

photo via Buzzfeed

Modcloth, which has doubled the size of its plus size business since June 2013, recently hired Paradigm Sample to conduct a survey concluding that more US women wear a size 16 than 0, 2, and 4 combined. According to an article from the Associated Press, "The average American woman is about 25 pounds heavier than she was in 1960. Yet women's plus size clothing, generally defined as size 14 and up, still makes up only 9 percent of the $190 billion spent annually on clothes." This is major and explains why overall sales on plus size apparel has increased by about 5% and over a billion dollars from just last year, with most of that coming from the baby boomer generation.

photo via Refinery29

The popular and super trendy Aussie plus size brand, City Chic is coming to the US with six new stores openings in California. Kicking off on August 1st, the first will open its doors in Culver City with the rest launching throughout the end of September. Currently they ship internationally and are available at select Nordstrom stores as well as online, but their official brick and mortar entrance into the US will mark a major accomplishment for the specialty plus sized retailer.

photo via Nicolette Mason

However, it doesn't end at retail. Today we have magazines like Full Blossom as well as a plethora of famed blogs like GabiFresh, Girl With Curves, and Nicolette Mason aimed to fight stereotypes and inspire women to embrace their bodies. Not to mention, full figured fashion has spread across mainstream media sites like Refinery29 and Marie Claire pinpointing key trends, fashion tips, and advice articles. These companies are finally opening their eyes to reality and understanding their audience goes beyond sizes 0-12.

photo via Huffington Post

If you remember correctly, Rick Owens made fashion history almost a year ago when he replaced traditional models with a step dance team, whom were of a variety of shapes, sizes, and races. Then in February during London Fashion Week the second annual British Plus-Size Fashion Weekend (BPSFW) launched as well, which is specifically aimed towards size 14 and up. While the event is not actually affiliated with LFW, it is a huge leap for promoting positive body image and the beauty of diversity.

photo via Redbook Mag

Despite, things are still trickier in regards to the luxury market with very few high-end brands designing for above size 14. Actress Melissa McCarthy caused some controversy during an interview in June's issue of Redbook over her troubles finding a gown to wear to the Oscars explaining, "I couldn't find anyone to do a dress for me." And now due to her first hand struggles as well as her background in clothing and textiles, she's collaborating on her very own line called Pearl to help fuller sized women feel good about themselves.

While the high-end market may have some catching up to do, there's no getting around the potential of plus size apparel. With the help of technology and the internet, full figured women finally have access to brands that sell clothing fit for their body types without having to sacrifice their style in the process. As mid-market retailers continue to make it a priority, we will see more brands expand size selections, support diverse body types, drop stereotypes, and most importantly, challenge the current pressures of the fashion industry to reflect what real women look like.

Two Names Are Better Than One

It seems to be the season for fashion collaborations as brands from high to low seek a high profile name to pair up with. The idea of bringing luxury labels and celebrity designed wardrobes to the masses has become practically the norm in the eye of retail and it's not changing anytime soon. So get your agendas ready because these are some fashion collabs your wardrobe will not want to miss.

photo via Elle

Kate Moss x Topshop
She did it again! After 4 years, Kate Moss has returned for yet another collaboration with the fast fashion retailer Topshop, and this time it's shoppable in 39 countries worldwide as well as in Nordstrom stores, Nordstrom.com, and Net-a-Porter.com. The collection ranges from $76 to $1,200 and most of it adorned with fun details like beading, fringe, and sequins so you can get your statement Kate Moss on. As expected last week's launch at Topshop's Oxford Circus drew in enormous crowds and of course London's A-list ladies which included Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse, Sienna Miller, and Naomi Campbell at a private after party event.

Proenza Schouler x MAC
Fashion and makeup go together like well, designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough. Available now, this makeup range emulates Proenza Schouler's bold clothing and iconic prints with a super vibrant colour palette of lipsticks and blushes that pair with dark eyeliners and dramatic nail polishes. The collection is all about being effortless and balances beauty with fashion in the most downtown cool of ways. All those in favor of looking like a Proenza girl, say yay!

Banana Republic x Marimekko
Earlier this year, Banana Republic announced a collaboration with Finnish designer Marimekko and lucky for us the first sneak peek of the 22-piece collection is finally here. Arriving in stores on May 22, this limited edition capsule is full of Marimekko's artistic prints that grace the likes of signature Banana silhouettes like midi skirts, cropped skinny pants, maxi dresses, tunics, rompers, and other separates. Full of uniquely patterned pieces that will surely stand out from the rest of your wardrobe, you may just have found your summer statements.

photo via fashionista.com

Karlie Kloss x Warby Parker
Although the capsule collection doesn't launch until June 10th, Karlie has already been building major buzz by wearing the 70's inspired sunnies around NYC with bestie Taylor Switft. The sunglass range includes three metal frames with ombre lenses and all sales of the $145 specs benefit the nonprofit Edible Schoolyard NYC, which encourages healthy eating for kids in low income public schools.

CFDA and Amazon
In further efforts toward world domination, Amazon's MyHabit private sale website will now host an online designer shop to benefit the CFDA foundation. Starting this July, fashionistas alike will be able to shop their favorite designers at a discount AND contribute to a good cause with all proceeds going towards disaster relief, HIV/AIDS and breast cancer charities. So far, everyone from Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, and Michael Kors to Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Tory Burch and Oscar de la Renta, among many others, have already joined the initiative.

photo via telegraph.co.uk

After confirming a long term partnership with Pharrell Williams, Adidas Originals has announced a another capsule collection with the famed London Fashion Designer, Mary Katrantzou, set to hit stores this November. Katrantzou is best known for her eye popping use of colour and digital kaleidoscope-esq patterns which we're hoping will translate into the exclusive sporty apparel and footwear line.

photo via Alexander Wang

Alexander Wang x H&M
This highly anticipated collection is definitely one to mark your calendars for. H&M's latest designer collaboration was announced just two weeks ago via Wang's Instagram account drawing in over 11K in likes. The collection which will include men's and women's clothing as well as accessories is set to launch in early November and will be available in over 250 H&M stores worldwide. According to Wang, H&M is very open to "pushing boundaries" so we can't wait to see what the two masterminds come up with!

Pharrell Williams
Whether he's wearing that infamous vintage Vivianne Westwood hat or dropping a new album entitled "G I R L", there's a reason why Pharell's been so "Happy" lately. The multi-talented singer is making some moves onto the fashion scene with two upcoming collaborations. His much awaited men's and women's t-shirt collection for Uniqlo, "i am OTHER," is set to hit stores and online on April 24th. The musician now turned designer is also debuting a collection with Adidas Originals using eco-friendly Bionic yarn which is expected to launch this summer.

Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham
It wouldn't be a list of who's who without mentioning a Beckham and this one's featuring two, as both eldest sons make their modeling debuts. Ten-year-old Romeo is Burberry's latest billboard star while 15-year-old Brooklyn graces the cover of Man About Town magazine. With charming looks, power couple parents and four adorable children, the Beckham's just may be aiming for world domination.

Lupita Nyong'o

Her flawless beauty and dynamite red carpet looks have her on everyone's radar as a "Global Fashion Icon." It's also been rumored that she's dating Jared Leto and they've been seen side by side all the way from LA to Paris.

Olivier Rousteing
He's sat at the helm of Balmain as Creative Director since 2011 and helped give the fashion house its edgy, Baroque inspired flair. Now at 27, Olivier who quit a former international law career to follow his passion, continues to blur the lines between haute couture and ready-to-wear. With fans like Kayne, Prince, and even Rihanna who starred in Balmain's Spring 2014 campaign and is now up for her own CFDA Fashion Icon Award, the label evokes more than just fashion but art and architectural inspired designs.

Shailene Woodley
And the best dressed award goes to... Shailene Woodley who has quickly become the "It" girl of the red carpet. She first caught people's attention after her roles in The Secret Life of the American Teenager, The OC, and most recently The Descendants. We've seen her at the top of best dressed lists since 2011 wearing the likes of Dior, Valentino, Calvin Klein, Prabal Gurung, Christopher Kane, Jason Wu, and Dolce & Gabbana.

A New Era

Every day we hear about experimental leaps in technology and how it is revolutionizing the ideals of the retail sector. With so many new developments and changes, what can we expect to actually stick around to transform us from the present to the future?

photo via CNBC

We first introduced the idea of Bitcoin about a year ago and now that successful retailers like Overstock.com accept this electronic payment others are beginning to incorporate it into their changing business strategies. Hudson's Bay Co. which operates Hudson's Bay, Saks and Lord & Taylor department stores has launched a new shopping app Pounce that utilizes the digital currency so customers can directly shop and purchase from the retailer's catalog on their mobile phones.

video via fashionproject.com

Speaking of department stores, the infamous Nordstrom has launched a new initiative called the Fashion Project which is an online donation experience that takes lightly worn designer clothing and does two great things: donates to a charity of your choice and as long as 5 pieces meet the requirements, the donator receives a $40 gift card. This is just one example of the growing demand for "re-commerce" which all has to do with the current state of the economy and a desire for unique clothing with a bit of a story.

Leading e-commerce giant Amazon is making another unprecedented move via an online storefront of 3D printed products. By partnering with the startup 3DLT, Amazon is now the first major retailer to actually capitalize on 3D printed designs like quirky jewelry, plastic toys, iPhone cases and belt buckles. Besides making profits and trying to take over the world, what is Amazon really masterminding? Well maybe one day they won't need warehouses because they'll be selling 3D files that consumers can purchase and print at home, ultimately creating a just-in-time retail experience aka one day we'll be able to order anything we want, exactly as we want it.

photo via WWD

In other exciting news, there are a load of store openings to look forward to like H&M's Cos in both SoHo and Beverley Hills, the first ever Nasty Gal store, and the launch of Cross Company's new ethically minded mega-chain that will all be hitting the US market soon.

And things don't stop here. With fashion photographers becoming brands, models acquiring PH.Ds, and even something called Fashion 2.0 Awards for best social media achievements and top innovators, what else does the foreseeable future hold? Well for one, we are spending way more time shopping on the web and this alone will shape a new era of retail.

The Perfect Match

Technology is finally getting a major style upgrade. While we've been watching the evolution of wearable technology for a while now, it has yet to really make a fashionable statement. However, now we can not only create the impossible but wear it too. Functionality may be key, but if it can look good in the process then what's there to lose?

photo via NY Post

Imagine 3D printed press on nails, a bag you can never misplace, or a sweater that lights up depending on your mood. Well guess what? It's all possible. There is even a new jewelry line that detects sign language and a ring that brings the gestures of a magic wand to life.

photo via NY Times

We've consistently been seeing the evolution of advanced fabrications and smart clothing grace the runway more and more each season. At the most recent Paris collections, Iris van Herpen was the latest designer to experiment by mixing "the artisanal and the technical." Her collection deemed "biopiracy," explored the theme of "owning something you don't" and blended silks with tiny threads of plastic.

video via NBC News

Francesca Rosella of CuteCircuit took an entirely different approach this Fashion Week by giving her models the power to customize their outfits via an iPod. These garments did everything from shimmer to change color and even play videos through the use of micro-LED lights and camouflaging batteries as buttons or clasps.

photo via NY Times

Trackable wristbands are about to be a thing of the past. Tory Burch has teamed up with Fitbit to create a tracker disguised in well-designed pendants. There's also the Shine, an aluminum disc designed by Misfit Wearables that comes with optional necklace and leather band. Surprisingly enough, the wrist isn't exactly the best place to be collecting data since we tend to move it in unpredictable ways so keep an eye out as a new crop of wearable tracking devices emerge in some unexpected places.

photo via Business Insider

Kenneth Cole is one of the first companies to thoroughly incorporate Google Glass into its marketing campaigns. This new initiative invites men to document gentlemanly deeds they perform each day via an app and Google's cutting edge eyewear. Through an omni-channel approach, the 30 year old label is promoting its new men's fragrance across multiple platforms and appealing to a select group of fashion's most innovative.

3D printing and technical fabrics may be the future of technology infused fashion, but this is just the beginning. With the help of bluetooth developments, new fabric innovations, and of course, style worthy developments, we are about to reach a new era where we won't have one without the other. It's looking like fashion and technology just may be the perfect match.

MBF Fall Fashion Guide

With Labor Day around the corner and New York Fashion Week on it's way, summer is coming to a close, but are we quite ready for Fall yet? Today, we've picked the most exciting things to keep you in the know as we transition into the cooler seasons and soak in the last few days of that sweet August sun!

photo via fashionista.com

The first thing that's grabbed our attention (and hopefully yours) is the launch of Opening Ceremony's first New York Fashion Week. Using old shipping containers, the retailer is holding a week long pop-up market at Pier 57 to celebrate and give guests an entire fun-filled experience. From DKNY for Opening Ceremony to Rihanna for River Island, an Estée Lauder pop-up salon and a variety of specialty vendors from food to bikes (maybe even cronuts!), the market will run from September 5th to 12th from 11am-7pm to make sure to check it out!

photo via Nylon Mag

Speaking of cronuts, if you've somehow been MIA and missed it, it really was the hottest food craze to hit NYC this summer! So will the ramen burger or the chalkboard cake be next to fill our news feeds and our stomachs? Either way, keep your eyes peeled and taste buds ready for the latest food creation to explode in a city near you.

photo via target.com

As with every new season, a string of new designer collabs emerges to bring us both exclusivity and fashion at an affordable price point. This year's highlights include, 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target, Isabel Marant for H&M, L'Wren Scott for Banana Republic, and the Kate Spade New York and Darcel collection. Taking things further (for all you fashion fanatics), if you haven't been already, Rick Owens has opened up a DRKSHDW pop-up shop down on Wooster which will remain open until October 26th! For a complete list of collaborations, check out fabsugar.com!

video via Prada

With September issues fresh off the presses, an array of innovative new Fall campaigns are finally here. Luxury brands like Gucci, Balenciaga, Dior, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo, Prada, you name it, are those to watch with the release of everything from shoppable videos to print ads to past archives and backstage content as they ring in the latest Fall collections. Even H&M makes the list with David Beckham at the core of their underwear campaign. Do you know how we know the 90's are really back? After staring in a Rag & Bone ad just months ago, the infamous Bridget Hall returns yet again, but this time you'll catch her at the ever popular and undyingly cool Prabal Gurung!

photo via www.today.com

So with the 90's grunge era making a comeback, what are Fall's must have fashion items you ask? Well first off, if you're not mad for plaid already, from classic checks to tartan, anything goes. Make sure to experiment by layering cool logo tees and statement sweatshirts with your own distressed denim or a flirty wrap skirt! For all you beauty queens out there, test out Lancome's Vernis In Love nail polishes that come in shades of charcoal, deep maroon, and ebony. And whether you're back to school or not, try adding a personal touch to your wardrobe with these DIY backpack ideas!

Who's Got Talent?

With the 2013 CFDA Awards taking place last Monday, we thought it'd be the perfect time to post about some of our favorite designers. From those who have consistently reinvented themselves, to up and coming talent, these are the taste and trend makers ruling the runway.

photo via Dazed Digital

The two and a half year old Chicago label, Creatures Of The Wind, have been on everyone's radar the past few seasons. With a prior CFDA nomination and a J.Crew collaboration under their belt, duo Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters are making a name for themselves while still remaining modest to their brand. From shipping to stitching, the designers have expanded their business and manufacturing practices, but continue to do a lot on their own with a DIY approach. They are known for their indie design aesthetic, unique sensibility and Rodarte-esq use of mixed media fabrications. Not to mention, the pair works with three factories based here in New York, produce in Japan, and have even started to make knitwear connections in Hong Kong.

video via YSL

Despite a name change and a super controversial collection, Heidi Slimane is grabbing people's attention and bringing in the money in the process. The former sexy and sophisticated YSL line has now transformed into the modern, grungy Saint Laurent that's flying off store shelves. He's even got the face of model of the moment, Cara Delevingne at the forefront of his Fall 2013 campaign. What's next for the brand as it continues to evolve from its house roots? Well, Slimane has also launched a photographic series called the Saint Laurent Music Project, which is dedicated to portraying rock legends who have been dressed by YSL from its earlier days until now. So far the brand has worked with the likes of Marilyn Manson, Courtney Love, Bowie, Jagger and most recently, Daft Punk, among many others.

photo via Orta Anadolu

Pronounced "Them," THVM Atelier stands for This Here Very Moment. The premium denim label is based in a century old LA factory, home to a collective array of artists, each working side by side on various disciplines. Recently they partnered with William Lemon III to debut a collection of brightly colored avant-garde prints on their tops and jeans which is available at the LA shop Weltenbuerger. For Fall/Winter 2014, they will be collaborating with the Turkish mill, Orta, to produce three stories: Old Loom inspired by the history of workwear, Winter Blues focusing on indigo color blocking, and FitsWell which uses performance stretch to highlight flexibility and high recovery. The progressive denim label even has a magazine, THVM Rag, highlighting the creative process that reflects the inspirations and methodologies of each seasonal collection.

photo via Surface To Air

Surface to Air, where retail gets creative, literally. The name combines both a clothing line based online as well as with four shops located in New York, Paris and São Paulo, with a Studio for cool projects and films. The company also serves as an ad agency with clients that include Lanvin's Avant Garde scent, Uniqlo, Louis Vuitton Haute Joaillerie and Dom Perignon. For this French luxe brand, an average day can include everything and anything from designing their collections to shooting a music video. However, when it comes to the fashion, we love the effortlessly cool wearability of their streetwear looks. They have even collaborated with Alison Mosshart, the frontwoman of The Kills and The Dead Weather to produce the ultimate leather jacket which is available now.

photo via Ann Sofie Madsen

With an impressive background that includes training at John Galliano for Dior as well as positions at both Peclers and Alexander McQueen, Ann Sofie Madsen first launched her couture-inspired collection in London in 2010. Since then, she has expanded her resume to include work as an illustrator for graphic novels and youth books, with 8 published since 2011. Her fascination with contrasts, like primitive versus civilized, has led her to commonly reveal "the well-known through the unknown" in many of her abstract designs. She constantly experiments with materials and incorporates traditional handcrafted techniques with cutting-edge ones. While her Denmark roots may not be reflective in much of her work, she has still be deemed, "one of Denmark's biggest design talents."

What makes this fresh group of creatives stand out is their eagerness to experiment and challenge fashion's norms. They make their presence known because in today's industry it's about more than just great design. Without a point of view and the ability to take risks, a designer's talent is only as good as it looks.

MBF Blogger Picks

It's crazy to think that today bloggers are just as credible as the most prominent magazine editors. Designers are giving them front row access to shows and sending them clothing samples to be featured on their blogs. Their voice matters and some of their followings are incredible. Many of them have transformed a simple hobby into an entire lifestyle as they branch out to become consultants, socialites and even brand ambassadors and models. From fashion to food, they inspire us and represent a new breed of celebrities as well as the future of traditional reporting and writing.

photo via Haute Inhabit

For blogger Lainy Alexandra Hedaya it's not just about personal style, but upcoming trends, runway shows, outfit and interior inspirations, and other fashion/lifestyle related topics as well. Her motto,  "redefining modern elegance" is more than apparent through her selective taste and dedication to sticking to her style, not what people send her to wear. She has even created a Haute Inhabit avatar to represent the trends of the season based on what fashion's top designers have sent down the runway.

No blog list is complete without at least one pick dedicated to food. Whether you're in the mood for healthy recipes, comfort foods or scrumptious desserts, Pittsburgh based blogger Jessica tries to keep things local and seasonal when she can. While she has no formal culinary training, she has a cookbook set to launch in 2014 and we don't know about you but if it tastes good, that's all we need to know!

photo via LopezJennyLopez

Brought to you in both English and Spanish, Colombian swimsuit model Jenny Lopez fuses her unique bohemian style by mixing various price points and decades into fashion, beauty, home decor and travel as readers follow her along on her adventures. In addition, she is designing a jewelry line called Momposina Rocks which combines silver and brass with different findings from around the world.

Her blog invites readers along on all her fashion related events she attends to give us an inside view into her life as a socialite. Not only is she a Vogue favorite, but cousin to designer Joseph Altuzarra, who she frequently collaborates with.
