According to Carrie Bradshaw, one of the biggest fictional fashion icons of all time, “Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future... this is known as Fashion Week." Although the shows ended two weeks ago, it is still in our minds (and hearts). While the catwalks were showing us what is going to be in trend for the next spring/summer, outside the tents, captivating ensembles of girls and guys from across the industry showed us what is in vogue now.
We picked up some of our favorite trends spotted during Fashion Week, and today we want to share them with you.
Bright Colors vs. Neutrals
The two biggest hits of this season’s Fashion Week were bright pops of color and neutral tones. Hot pinks and yellow were the main stars, mixed with other bright hues of blues, purples and reds. Whether worn plain or in prints, these color combinations were everywhere, showing us that summer style was still in the air. On the other hand, greys, nudes, blacks and whites were such a huge thing as well, reminding us that fall is just around the corner. Overall, these colors were present in a plethora of styles that ranged from minimalism to over the top looks.
Bold Prints
Prints had major presence inside and outside the tents of NYFW, and they followed the idea of the bigger, the better. Florals, space inspired prints, paisleys, graphic plaids, pop culture themes, lips and eyes, food… It was possible to see a little bit of everything and they came along with a series of embroideries, embellishments, and other vibrant details.
Sheers
There was a time when people were really concerned about showing too much skin. In 2014, it doesn’t seem to be a problem anymore, neither for women nor men. Sheer fabrics, such as lace and tulle, among other see-through materials were worn in all different types of combinations, proving sometimes less is much, much better.
Nose Rings
You know an accessory is the next big thing when you see stars and famous fashion bloggers rocking it. In this case, after witnessing avant-garde icons such as Rihanna and the Song Sisters, among many other fashionistas wearing nose rings, we bet this will be the next trendsetting obsession.
Flat Shoes and Boots
When you think about Fashion Week, the first thing that comes to mind is probably killers shoes, and well, they were definitely present this season, but in a much different form. Sneakers and boots had a massive resurgence this season with less height and much more comfort being the claim to fame.
Accessories
It’s not Fashion Week without bold accessories. From feathered embellishments and toy-ish bags to multi-shaped sunglasses with slogans, to shoes and bags resembling human body parts, such as eyes and lips, we literally saw it all.
Fashion Kids
Well, we know that stylish kids aren't exactly a trend, but we couldn't miss the opportunity to show off these little fashionistas in the making. Prepare for your heart to melt!
While New York Fashion Week is over, we’re already looking forward to the next one! In the meantime, stay tuned to our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more pictures and information about other Fashion Weeks happening around the world.
